It's Week 2 of the NOT Back To School Blog Hop over at Heart of the Matter. (Their online conference begins today too, so be sure to check that out!) Last week was all about curriculum. This week is about The School Room. Join me. Walk with me as I share with you...

...my open and spacious kitchen where the children gather excitedly around the island for science experiments...

...my inviting living room and dining room where we eagerly have our Bible lessons and enjoy craft time...

...and the relaxing bedroom where we cuddle as we enjoy our read alouds...
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP
Excuse me while I shut off the alarm clock. WHAT?? A girl can dream can't she?
The truth of the matter is we school all over the house, and right now my house is a mess so I'm not posting photos of anything!! We're half packed for a possible move and had a birthday party this week, so today we're reclaiming the house.
Generally, history is done in the bedroom, cuddled up. Grammar, spelling and science experiments are completed at the kitchen table. Read alouds are completed in the living room and independent studies like math, typing, handwriting and bookwork, the kids completed at their desk.
We homeschool, so we use our entire home!

ReplyDeleteBEEP BEEP BEEP -- HILARIOUS!!!!
ReplyDeletelove to dream as well! Are the photo's from "clean" days? Loved them.
ReplyDeleteJennifer- it's not really my house, they are just stock photos of what I'd love my house to one day look like :) We're in a lovely but cramped log cabin.
ReplyDeleteoh man...I was drooling over your awesome bedroom!!! Too funny!
ReplyDeleteI'm a new reader, and I was ooohing and aaahing too!
ReplyDeleteVery funny. And great "Dream" photos. Very my style!
haha good one.
ReplyDeleteLast year we just used the dining room and living room couch, and housed our things on bookshelves. This year I am hoping to set up more of a room out of our living room. =) We move Sept 1st so we are not beginning for a week after that.
LOL! I wish I had posted this. I saw that kitchen and got a little bit (okay, a BIG bit) jealous. :P We, too, "school" everywhere. Thanks for sharing and giving me a chuckle!

ReplyDeleteOMgoodness, I saw that kitchen and thought, "I just knew everyone has a nicer kitchen than me!" then as I scrolled down to the next picture, I thought, nope - it's totally staged. Thank you for being so funny!
ReplyDeleteI was also thinking that there is no way I'd be posting pictures of my house because it's a mess and we use every room, all the time - which is why it's a mess. So glad to see I'm not the only one!

Oh yah!! Very cute! You got me!
ReplyDeleteWe usually use the living room and dining room. Since we are moving THIS WEEK and still don't know where to... I don't know WHAT our rooms will look like.
I am so excited to start school soon.
HUGS,
Janet

I was getting a little envious. ;)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, though, homeschool really is all over the house. Guess that's the "home" part of homeschool!
Chick Hatchers - I promise you have a better kitchen than me. I have about 12 square feet of counter space, hardly any cabinets, it's bad. But it's an old house so I knew what I was getting into :)
ReplyDeleteI was totally drooling over those photos! Thanks for sharing the link too. We're going to be doing lots of home schooling!
ReplyDeleteI like your post, and hey-all over is good too! Have a super good new year!
ReplyDeleteHilarious! So funny. Happy cleaning day, and happy homeschooling! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL That's great!!! I bet your kids love your sense of humor! We too school all over the house so I don't have much of a "class room" as I am trying very hard NOT to re-create school at home. Thanks for sharing, I loved your post!
ReplyDeleteToo funny! Like you, we do lots of school on the living room couch, at the kitchen table, cuddled up on someone's bed :)
ReplyDeleteHaha... you are good in this :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I can so imagine you are homeschooling everywhere in the house, like I'm studying in every available corner of ours. And where people are living it should be a little messy don't you think!!
Good luck with the removal though!! When's the date?
LOL! That's so funny! Thanks for the laugh!
ReplyDeleteLOL.....loved it! Thanks for the giggles.
