I am really excited about this year's curriculum choices, I have high hopes that this year will be a great one! I have shared our choices in the "2010-2011 Curriculum" page on my navigation bar, check it out! The only item I am still undecided on is our Bible curriculum. I'm looking for something suitable to the big boy's ages (13, 14 & 14) and teaches life applications of God's word, but still teaches basic Bible stories because Tony and Billy have had very little biblical education so far. I'd rather have family Bible study time, than one for Tony and Billy and another for Fox.Can I make a little confession? I am stoked to be homeschooling four kids this year. FOUR! For so long there was only Fox, now we've been blessed to have Tony and Billy join us and Bram will be starting very light 'preschool' work. Since the big boys are similar in age they will be on the same level for most of their work. But there are some variances with math and science, so here is the breakdown for the year.
All Together:
Bible
Big Boys Together:
Writing
Spelling
Grammar
Art
Fox and Tony:
History
Science
Fox and Billy:
Math
Bram:
Bram's curriculum will consist lots of books and correlating art projects. We will be working on the alphabet, colors and numbers, manners and physical activity. There will be more of course, but this is the start.

Sounds great! I'm still unsure what Bible study/curriculum we're going to use too.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun year. You know I am a huge fan of Bible Study Guide for All Ages. It's been one of the few constants in our homeschool almost since the beginning.
ReplyDeleteI also just remembered that I think you sent me a question via email that I haven't replied to yet. I'm going to look for it now and answer it. Sorry about that!
I'll be schooling four as well - ages 9, 8 and 4 (two of them) - as well as trying to juggle a baby (well, not actually juggling him, we hope - lol!). I'm excited, too, as I've waited for the little ones to be ready. I don't push early academics, but they're both girls and are definitely ready for "something." I have no idea how I'll manage...but the Lord will provide. :^)
ReplyDeleteWe read a chapter out of the Bible each day and I have been amazed what my kids ask at much younger ages. There are dramatized MP3s of the Bible that would be good too. When my kids are your kid's ages, I would like to include the Summit Worldview program with Bible. It might be worth checking out.
ReplyDeleteI am heading to see what else you are doing!
How can it not be a great year with all those wonderful Sonlight books?
ReplyDeleteI sooo want AAS. My oldest is a really good speller so there's no sense switching at this stage. I'm having to wait for the baby to be ready for spelling so I can have it. But alas, she is only two, so wait I shall. =o)
Hey there!
ReplyDeleteI have something that you may be interested in. This is the FREE curriculum that we will be using for Bible this year. I won't be going through it from beginning to end but I will be choosing the Books of the Bible that we want to study.
Also, I have another free ebook for older students that I will be taking my 13/14 year old through. It is on my husbands computer so I'll get it to you later. It is on creation/apoligetics, a great study for teens through adults.

Have a great year!!
ReplyDeleteHi there--found you on the blog hop. Sounds like you're going to have an awesome (and busy) year!
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
I am using 365 Meditations for Teens. Small snippets of scripture and a few thoughts that appear fairly teen appropriate.
